Attorney Andrea M Durón was born and raised in the Chicago
suburbs. The first child of Mexican immigrant parents, Andrea grew up
speaking Spanish at home, and English in school. After graduating from
Rich South High School in 1993, Andrea went on to attend DePaul University
on Chicago’s northside neighborhood of Lincoln Park. The urban
multi-ethnic environment helped Andrea develop her already budding interest
in social justice and community activism. She participated in many activities,
both on and off campus that allowed her to get into the thick of the
community, either working with children, getting involved in political
movements or teaching others about the benefits of a multi-ethnic society.
Ms. Durón graduated from DePaul University in 1997 and moved to
Colorado to teach bilingual education in the Denver Public School District.
Andrea Durón taught fourth and fifth grade at Valdez Elementary
School in North Denver, a neighborhood known as a transitioning immigrant
neighborhood of primarily Mexican origin. After two years of teaching,
Andrea Durón decided that it was time to go back to school. She
chose the University Of Denver College Of Law as her next instrument
for change. During her three years at DU, Andrea was able to help invigorate
the Latino student movement. She developed volunteer opportunities for
law students, she participated in cultural awareness activities, and
helped eliminate barriers for incoming Latinos law students who took
the challenge of attending law school at DU.
Attorney Andrea Durón graduated from the University Of Denver
College Of Law in May of 2002 and took a job at the small Longmont, Colorado
firm of Jorgensen Motycka & Lewis, PC. During her time at JML, Attorney
Durón was trained in the areas of Family Law, Personal Injury
Law, Criminal Law and Employment Law. She was the only Spanish speaking
attorney at the firm, and was responsible for all client contact with
Spanish speaking clients.
Following her employment at JML, Attorney Durón was hired by The
Law Office of Clara Romero, LLC; a small Denver Firm with ideals close
to her heart. The Law Office of Clara Romero was a firm dedicated to
working with the underrepresented Spanish speaking population of Denver,
Colorado. With an office on North Federal Boulevard, you could not be
more in the community. It was at this firm where Attorney Durón
honed her trial skills in the areas of criminal law, family law and personal
injury work, and peaked her interest in opening her own firm. Three short
years later, The Durón Law Firm was established.
In July of 2005, after a move back to her home town of Chicago, and a
frustrating look at the job opportunities for a young Latina lawyer who
wanted to work with the Spanish speaking community, Attorney Durón
opened her own practice on Milwaukee Avenue, in Chicago. The
office focused in the area of real estate law, family law and traffic
matters. Today, in the Bucktown office, located at the Ashland Avenue
Professional Center, Andrea has grown the office in size and experience.
With a strong focus in civil practice, Andrea’s clients have the
advantage of a dedicated, fully bilingual attorney who is dedicated to
each case that she works.
